The script that saved my bacon:

  • Multi Channel Setup MEL
  • Mel script itself

    Which used an Add/Multiply node instead of a multiLayer texture.

    Works with Mental Ray and in inbuilt renderer, but with 3delight and normal maps not so much.

    Now our playblasts can look sweet with tiled UVs and Viewport 2.0
